Is it possible to learn a concerto by yourself?!

Question:

Is it possible to learn a concerto by yourself?

I have been playing the violin for 9 years now but have never had a private tutor. So I guess I'm not as good as I could be but I don't have enough money for a instructor.

Do you think I could learn to play a concerto by myself or is it impossible? It will be the Bruch Violin concerto in G minor to be exact. I will be playing for a function in about 5 months, which gives me ample time to practice.

??

Wow, Scots Pines, someone sounds a little bitter. I've never seen anyone take so much time to yell at a stranger over the internet. Don't worry about my skills and certainly don't doubt my passion-- you don't know me. Period.

Answers:

find a recording of the song and listen to it to understand what it's supposed to sound like and then practice, practice, practice!! you can do it. if within the first month you feel like ur not catching on, then i would try to save up for at least one tutorial session OR look up a local orchestra and see if someone would b willing to work with u on it. alot of the smaller local orchestras have orchestra teachers in them, so i'm sure u could find someone to work with u. good luck, i'm sure u'll b great!
