i don't dress emo, but i like emo music. because i like their meaning. i like emo stuff. i like dark stuff. i like being able to do what i want..

i like being me...

Don't be concerned with classifications. I don't get why people pigeon-hole themselves like that. Just be you, don't be a brand of music or a fashion.

But, if that's your trip, then of course you can. Just know your stuff about the scene so you know what you're talking about and go for it. I suppose I did the whole "slacker" thing when I was round about what I would guess your age is which is the same idea (so I can't really give you too much flack for identifying yourself by your music). I would only say that as I've gotten older I've seen how manipulative the whole "be the scene" idea is. It's a lot more impressive to meet someone who isn't so classifyable. You said you like being you so why place the restrictions of a template (or label) on yourself.
