Why are male R&b singers always called gay?

It seems like when you're a guy and you sing there are always rumors you're gay. But they never call rappers gay why is that?

An unwillingness by most African-Americans to admit that a man can have a soft side and be heterosexual. Ne-Yo, John Legend, Luther Vandross, and countless others are singled out and classified as being gay because they don't mind showing their emotion through their music. And that's "gay". Apparently wearing shirts long enough to be considered dresses and more jewelry at one time than most women own is not.
