Do you listen to your parents or kids music?!

Question:

Do you listen to your parents or kids music?

I mean seriously..you have to admit that there WAS a change..i grew up LOVING my parents music..Beatles, Doors, Led Zeppelin, the Who, Jimi, David Bowie, Velvet Underground, Pink Floyd Boston etc...

But now I got my parents listening to Weezer, The Shins, Jimmy Eat World, the Killers and Panic At the Disco????

What is going on??? Usually parents HATE their kids music...so what is UP?????

when I say..I got...it isn't because I converted them...it is because my brother is still 18 and at home so they hear it all the time...but when I come home I find them listening to stuff that is more along my brother's taste than their own...

Answers:

Same here, We're all older (I'm 29 and they're in they're early 50s) but they gave me the Beatles, Elvis Costello, Paul Simon, Simon and Garfunkel, Jethro Tull, Bob Dylan, Led Zeppelin, Warren Zevon, the Who, the Clash, etc.
and I gave them the Shins, Doug Martsch, Frank Black, Built to Spill, Radiohead, Wilco, and other stuff.
My mom and I often compare notes on certain music happenings. She in particular has really good taste. I remember how funny I thought it was when SHE turned me onto Blood Sugar Sex Magic (the Red Hot Chilli Peppers record) when it first came out. Pretty vulgar record to get from your mom.

I'm really jealous of a lot of the shows they got to see also. My dad saw Jimi, the Doors and someone else who is awesome that I can't remember at Northridge. My mom saw the Beatles at Dodger Stadium. Plenty of other ones, some great acts at the Troubador.

I love being able to have a connection like that with them. Music is one of my favorite things. It's really nice to have that in common with them.
