On the Bass clarinet in "C" if you play a written C will it sound like!
Question:
On the Bass clarinet in "C" if you play a written C will it sound like a concert Bb or a concert c?
I play a concert pitch instrument (trombone) and was wondering if a Bb on my instrument would be the same pitch as a Bb on the bass clarinet in c. In other words when the conductor tells you to play a concert pitch Bb to tune will you finger a Bb or c?
Answers:
In the clarinet is in C, then it is in concert pitch. That said, *most* bass clarinets are pitched in Bb, so that a written C sounds a concert Bb.
