When you play a chord with a melody , do you strum and then play the notes for the melody later?
No guitar lessons please..self taught with dvd now.
Just stuck...say you want to play Happy Birthday to You using the chord line G D and G, and you have the melody. I can't see that the dvd shows any other hand movements except for the chords, so how does he also play the melody? I appreciate your help!

i think u have to observe the strumming pattern on the dvd. Or you can just listen to the tune. You shud be able to just strum the way he does in the vid
