Some questions about Sweeney Todd?!
Question: Some questions about Sweeney Todd!?
Loved the musical, loved the movie!. But there are some things I still don't understand!.
1) How did Mrs!. Lovett know Benjamin Barker and his family in the first place!? She knew what happened to Lucy after he was sent away too!. Did she recognize him when he first came into the shop!?
2) How does Mrs!. Lovett really feel about Toby!? It looks like she wants to be his mom or something but then she locks him in the bakehouse - why!? Because he was suspicious!? Wouldn't being locked in a room with dead bodies, an oven, and a meat grinder make him MORE suspicious!? And why would she do that if she cared about him!? Or was she totally faking the "Not While I'm Around" scene!? I noticed the music seems to have a colder, sort of creepy feel when she starts singing!.
3) What's the point of the one guy, the character played by the actor who plays Peter Pettigrew in the Harry Potter series!?

1!. Her meat shop has always been there, I kind of got the impression that she borderline stalked Benjamin Barker while he lived int he flat above her!.
2!. She loved Toby I believe, but her devotion to Mr!. Todd was all consuming and she could not let anyone get in the way of their plans no matter what he meant to her!. You are right that she was faking the whole song, that's why the music is ominous!.
3!. He is Judge Turpin's "muscle" he takes care of all his dirty work and keeps his secrets!.

1) im not sure but i think she knew benjamin barker before he was shipped off cuz she says always had a fondness for you in the song my friends!.
2) maybe she was hiding him from sweeney but maybe her love for sweeneytodd outweighed her love for toby

2) She has to stop him from telling people about the 'meat' in the pie because he seemed suspicious about the death of his previous owner (Borat!? John Gerrard)!?, remember she had his coin bag!? He doesnt notice they are 'people' at first, until he starts really truelly looking
