Serious dork question. What's the name of this 80s comedy/horror movie?!

I am completely tortured by this!.

I remember seeing a movie on HBO (I think) in mid-80s that was a comedy-horror film!. I thought the MacKenzie Bros (Rick Moranis/Dave Thomas) were in it, but they're not, I checked their filmography!. But there is an idiot-buddy-brother team in it alongside the main romantic interests!. The movie had a strong Scooby Doo/Strange Brew vibe about it!.

These are the things I remember:

1!. The movie takes place in a small, New England, coastal town!. A lighthouse is involved somehow!.

2!. There is a dead sea-captain (in bluish zombie make-up) chasing the brothers throughout the movie!.!.!.with the convention that only they seem to be able to see him!. He disappears whenever they attempt to prove his existence!.

3!. The leading man is possessed by the devil or a demon near the end of the film, and attempts to trick the other protagonists into doing!.!.!.something!.
