I think you're referring to the part at the end!.!.!.where she said she's already dying!.
And that meant that every second, every passing day, she's dying, because that means that the passing day is one less day she's living!.
So basically everybody's dying!.!.!.
But she was also dying when James attacked her, since she lost a lot of blood, and plus since James bit her, the venom was already traveling through her blood, which means she could have started the transformation into a vampire in a few minutes!.
