Question: If a Canterbury Tales movie was made in Middle English, would it have subtitles!?
Imagine if a movie was made about the Canterbury Tales, but in middle English, would it likely have subtitles!? I'm leaning towards yes because many people I've encountered don't understand more than a few words of it!. I have an easy time understanding Middle English, which I've found is similar to Frisian (compare Middle English "sonne" to Frisian "sinne", both mean "sun" in English), both I've been able to gain a bluffer's knowledge of just by reading them like regular English literary works!.

There have been no movies made of any Chaucerian work, so the question is entirely a matter of opinion!. Do you think the average person would need subtitles to understand Middle English!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

Answers:
Probably!. I mean I'm American and English is my first language but I watch the original Office with subtitles because I don't always catch every word!. Www@Enter-QA@Com
