A film that I saw the start of when I was younger? alien film?!

I remember very little of this film!. It was most likely an 80's or 90's film!. It had christopher walken in it, I think!.!.!.!.it's a guy who lives with his family and it's halloween!. Aliens come in and abduct the dad and I think they experiment on him!. There's a scene when a pumpkin starts floating in the air or an alien is wearing it!.!.!.I really can't remember too much of it!.
