Brilliant movie! It's probably my favorite ever

The foetus/boogyman figure, in my opinion, represents the good and evil of obedience!. This is the biggest theme throughout the movie, just look at all the times Ofelia is told to obey, to behave herself!.!.!. Sometimes obeying is right or necessary (when she disobeys the faun and eats the grapes, look what happens)!. But mostly, one has to learn to disobey orders that are wrong!. Captain Vidal is obsessed with order and obedience, and he is resisted by the rebels (who are sympathetic) and the doctor (who tells him that "obeying blindly, without thinking, is something only men like you can do")!. Ofelia ultimately makes the same choice, refusing to hurt an innocent as she is told, and she, like the doctor, is killed!. It's up to you to decide whether the ending is one of redemption or despair

The boogyman figure is surrounded by murals that look like those in churches of the middle ages!. I don't think this necessarily means that Catholicism is evil, but it means that the blind faith and obedience it often requires can be very wrong!. There is a reason that the boogyman has no eyes in his head, it's symbolic!. He, like Vidal, has devolved into a blind and evil monster!. They are both like Herod and other biblical villains (which may be why del Toro uses religious references), they are sacrificing the innocentsWww@Enter-QA@Com

I loved the visuals!. Very surrealistic!. Its a fairy tale!. You don't see many of these anymore!. I didn't read too much into the film, but I was severely tired when I watched it!. I will have to watch it again with a clearer head to gleam any deeper meaning!.

I have watched his older stuff that he made in Mexico, and the themes are very similar!. He also directed Hellboy 1 and 2 and Blade 2, and is currently starting work on 2 more movies, "The Hobbit" (came before "The Lord of the Rings") and a movie that takes place between the two!. Now that he has moved into Hollywood he is able to get the money necessary to bring his ideas to life!. His earlier work was awesome in its own right, he just didn't have the funding!. He had to make his own special effects company because nothing existed in Mexico that could come close to making the effects he was looking for!. I look forward to seeing more from him in the future!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Very intriguing and very sad!. I was tempted to buy it until I saw that part where the girl's step dad bashes in that guy's face!.!.!.that is one of the most violent scenes I've ever seen in any movie!.

It's a brilliant film that I think everyone should!.!.!.but I don't think I can ever watch it again!. It's so sad!.

This is the only description I can find about him (that thing creeped me out so much):

"The Pale Man, a grotesque, child-eating monster who sits absolutely silent and motionless in front of a large feast!."Www@Enter-QA@Com

yea, it was very interesting and i think the story plot was kinda unique!. it was a bit ironic tho considering the movie was about a child's adventure but it was rated R!. my lil sister couldn't sleep that night after watching it lol (we didnt know it was gonna be THAT violent) Www@Enter-QA@Com
