He's her character and while she was writing the books, that's how she pictured him from the very Beginning!. She knew that he had had this infatuation with another wizard (Grindlewald) all along and that he had fallen in love with him!.!.!.JKR just decided to release the news because so many fans kept asking her about Dumbledore's love life!.
I think it makes perfectly good sense after going back and re-reading the books!.!.!.there are subtle little hints of it in the series (not about him being Gay, but that his love life might be complicated) and I just think it makes Dumbledore even more intriguing than he already was!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

How could a character be made gay for political reasons!? Do you think the other characters are straight for political reasons!?
There are some things in the book that hint to his sexuality, I do think it was unnecessary for this big thing about Dumbledore being gay but not a big thing about any of the other characters being straight!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Sure, it might be a political statement!. Throughout history, authors have used their novels to make political statements-- just look at Charles Dickens' and Oscar Wilde's novels and writings!. Authors use their work as a way to make a point sometimes, so in this case, maybe JKR made Dumbledore gay to make a point!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

LOL I love how people are so quick to say "he's not gay" when the author said he was gay, she MADE him so if she says he's gay he's gay, she knows more about HP than you do!.
