The necklace (dont forget also in the shape of a heart) was something that meant alot to her, by dropping it in the sea, I think she symbolizes that that necklace is her heart and she is leaving it in the sea with the man that she loved!.

i think honestly, it's to rejoin herself (the necklace representing her) with the titanic!. I also think that she would rather the necklace be where it should be than with anyone else and she knows that she probably doesn't have much time left!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

probably because, in the long run, that's what killed Jack (if Cal hadn't framed him then Jack and Rose might have made it to the boats), and she wanted the necklace to be with him!. but i could be wrong, but that's what i think!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
