The movie you're thinking of is GUMMO!.!.!. which is awful (and not just for that scene - its generally a bad movie)

There is no info as to how this was done in this case as far as i can tell!. But they probably wouldnt have been allowed to get away with doing it for real - Even an indie film like this would have been in a lot of trouble for harming an animal for a film!.

A couple of other cases I can think of:

During the filming of MANDERLAY a donkey was put down on camera!. The movie was filmed in Sweden and under Swedish law this is allowed (animals put to death on film) as long as the act was performed by a vet!. The scene was later cut out of the film!.

Way back in the late 70s the hugely controversial CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST (which is still banned in a few countries) filmed the killing of several animals!. The animals were (supposedly) later eaten by Amazonian tribespeople!.

A couple of years ago there were cases of a series of "crush" movies being circulated!. These films involved women in high heels stomping on poor wee animals!. The makers of these films were eventually caught and thrown in prison!. These films are also the closest anybody has come to finding a genuine "snuff" film!.

But by-and-large, any abuse to animals in movies is faked!. There is NO way that filmmakers would do it for real, if not for ethical reasons, for the legal reasons!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

In 98% of movies it's fake!. But there is the odd time that it is real!. It's rare but there are a few films where animals are really harmed or killed, it's disgusting!. I try to just steer clear of all films with animals being harmed because of that!. And before people b*tch about "how can you watch movies with people being killed and not animals!?" think about it, you KNOW the people getting killed in a movie weren't really killed, it would be all over the news!. You can't be so sure about animals, until I can be sure I'll stay away from those films!.

BTW What movie was it!?

EDIT: If it was Gummo as other poster has guessed than you are fine, no animals were harmed in the making of that film!.

The film I saw where a cat was killed is Bad Boy Bubby, from '93, not that old really, so I try not to take chances anymore!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Generally not, however some older films do have scenes with real animals, cannibal holocaust being the prime exampleWww@Enter-QA@Com
