I think Star Wars should be taught in Mythology classes?!

Question: I think Star Wars should be taught in Mythology classes!?
Anyone else agree with me!? I'm talking about the original trilogy here!. The story is SO deep with it's themes of Good, Evil, Love, Hate, Suffering, Redemption, Sacrifice, Standing up for what's right against impossible odds!.

I know alot of people will disagree with me because its a movie and it's modern, but I really don't think those facts make it any less of an important piece of storytelling equal to that of older myths such as Beowulf!.

I know alot of the believes and values that I hold have been influenced by the Star Wars films!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

First I have to say that I agree with everything you say in your question!. I also know that many of the beliefs and values that I have today were taught to me by the Star Wars movies!.

It actually should be taught in Mythology classes as a "modern" version of mythology!. The simple fact is that there are aspects of mythology all through the Star Wars movies !.!.!. the movies themselves are the classic "hero's journey" type of story and Lucas has said that he drew many parts of the Star Wars universe straight from his love of mythology!.

Give it a little more time and I believe that most Mythology classes will have a reference to Star Wars as a modern day version of mythology!.

May The Force Be With You !.!.!.

Just because Star Wars is/are a modern movie(s) does not mean it isn't relevant!. It is familiar--something people can readily relate to!. For what it's worth, you should research the similarities between Jedi and Buddhism (ie!. suffering, good and evil, etc!.)!. Not a big Star Wars fan, but the comparison between the two has always been fascinating to me!. Just my opinion! Good luck!Www@Enter-QA@Com

Mythology in its definition is about fictional characters and story that was thought in the past as real creatures or story!.
Thus Star Wars can not be treated as a myth since people never thought it was real!.

I agree it has the elements, maybe for Fantasy classes or even Literature!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

no!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

i don't think so!. It's too modern to be myth!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
