Rear Window - Hitchcock film with James Stewart and Grace Kelly
There are a lot of good other Jimmy Stewart films eg!. The Philadelphia Story, Harvey, The Shop Around The Corner, Vertigo!.
The Sound of Music, Casablanca, Citizen Kane, Singin In the Rain, Breakfast at Tiffany's!. You could try searching for certain actors and directors to get some ideas!.
Good luck, hope you find a lot of good films!. I think most classics were made well before the 1980s, but some good films around then and the early 1990s I think are Witness, Empire of the Sun, Dead Poet's Society, Gallipoli, Picnic At Hanging Rock and My Brilliant Career (some of those are Australian and/or Australian director)!.

Oh God,where do I start!? The best thing to do is watch TCM and check out The Essentials a weekly installment of films that are considered classics and not only that,you get to hear the host ,Robert Osborne and the guest programmer give their individual takes on the film of the evening!. Robert is a walking encyclopedia of film and there's no better place to start your history lesson!. The essential films and genres are all well represented!. Everything from Drama,to Westerns,To Musicals and Comedies and you'll be amazed at the stuff they got up to in old Hollywood and how adult a lot of the plots were before The Production Code came along with a bunch of rules that sound downright silly today,such as even married couples not appearing laying down on a couch or bed UNLESS one of the man's feet were on the floor!LOL

Did you know that Psycho was the first film to actually show a toilet in a bathroom!?
