That apartment, and the attic, was rented out to a tenant that the owner/manager said was rarely seen, and that the tenant had not been seen at all for several weeks now!. The owner/manager assumes that the tenant isn't around!. The truth of the matter is that this tenant, a member of a "doomsday cult working on an Armageddon virus" that is described in those newspaper clippings, has been carrying on further experiments for this virus in this attic/apartment!. The recorder, I believe, has some kind of ritual or language from the cult, or growling speech from the tenant himself, attempting to record something on the recorder after he had been infected!.
The rats were the animals the tenant was first testing on, and I think that he had tried to test out his virus on the young boy, whom he had trapped in the attic, to see if the virus was viable in humans yet!. If you notice, there was blood on one of the tables in the tenant's lab, and I think that the tenant had been bitten by the boy, and that the virus was thereby transmitted to the tenant, who was now infected by his own virus!. He is the emaciated one seen in the night vision on the camera, and is malnourished from being in his apartment for weeks, with only scraps to eat in his kitchen, which is why, when he attacks the cameraman, he begins to eat him!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

The room in the attic was were the guy lived that the manager said he hadn't seen in several months!. This was the creepy monster guy who got the reporter and photographer in the end!.All the clippings were about a Doomsday cult-so he must have been doing the reasearch on the animals up there trying to create a rabies type virus to end the world!. Somehow (maybe through an escaped rat), the virus infected him and the little girl's dog!. That started the whole infection process!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
