Can I Use Music From Other Artists In My Movie When I Give Explicit Credits In T!

Question: Can I Use Music From Other Artists In My Movie When I Give Explicit Credits In The End Titles!?
when I give explicit credits in the end titles!?
Because I'm recording a short film and I need Louis Armstrong's Songs for it!. It's a non-profitable project I want to practice on producing, organizing and so on!.!.!.
But if I want to take part in a contest, will it be enough to give such credits!? Or do I have to ask the musician for permission!? (and how is that possible in my case 'cause Armstrong's dead since 1971!?)

Thx in advance ;-)Www@Enter-QA@Com

Answers:
If the film is for a film class, no permission is needed!. If you intend to enter it in film competitions which award a prize of value (not just a plaque or ribbon), then you must seek permission from whoever holds the rights to the music!.

Failure to do so will get you sued, and you will lose!.

To get started, you contact ASCAP and ask for master rights to specific recordings you want to use!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Even though Armstrong is dead, someone inherited his estate and you could be liable for a lawsuit if you used songs without permission!. Be safe and contact whoever is managing his estate!. Chances are you would be given permission to use the songs without a fee, but don't assume you could until you have it in writing!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
