Not a real big fan of the live action versions because they never do Batman justice!.
The Batman Animated series (the Emmy award winning one) and Justice League Unlimited had the best version of Batman on screen!.
Batman Beyond also did a great job showing the future Batman!. And Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker the unedited version is the best Batman movie in terms of story, drama, and overall pathos!.
Live action - I would have to give it to Bale only because he comes the closest to how Batman is supposed to be!.
Mike Keaton was horribly miscast for the role!. There's no way he could ever be a believable Batman!.
That's like dressing Michael J!. Fox in a Superman outfit and saying he's the next Superman!. Sure, you can do it, but it's just not convincing!.
Same thing with Mike Keaton!. Okay actor, but totally wrong for that role!. Just like Nicolas Cage in many of his movies!. He's just the wrong person for the role!.

christian bale is EASILY the best!. he has the charisma, and above all, the intensity and anger that defines the character!. he also is waaaaay bigger than any of the other actors and genuinely looks like he could be the most dangerous person on the planet!. michael keaton would be next, even tho he was a bit soft and wasnt physically imposing enough to be batman, he just didnt project the same danger as bale does!. val kilmer was ok but very plain, and george clooney was awful, but he was done no favours by the whole film being awful to begin withWww@Enter-QA@Com
To me it would have to be Christian Bale!. Only because he's believable as both Batman and Bruce Wayne!. Anyone of those actors can pull the Batman thing off, they're in costume!. But when they become Bruce Wayne, its Christian Bale who's more believable!. Bruce Wayne is suppose to be this super rich, young handsome bachelor!. And Micheal Keaton just doesn't do it for me!. Val Kilmer and George Clooney were horrible as Batman!. It became too cheesy!. The Christian Bale movies of Batman were spot on!. The only complaint i have about Christian Bales Batman was that crazy deep voice!. Www@Enter-QA@Com
Val Kilmer in my opinion was the best Batman, but Christain Bale has done the best movie (Dark Knight)!. and Adam West did do a Batman movie (based on the show) in 1966, but we all know his version is more of a spoof and he shouldn't count anyway!.
