um maybe because the feather was white and lost which symbolies forrest!. because white means innocent sometimes and that forrest his innocent like a little kid!. and the feather being lost is like forrest being lost in life!. but on the end he has a purpose, to be his son's father!. so the feather floats away!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
