Most of James Cameron's movies up until after the Titanic have the same revolving team of actors!.
I'm not sure about every director, But in his case, he knows what he wants, and who can give it to him!. And I'm sure the opposite is true!. I bet Beihn, Paxton, Goldstein and Arnold know what Cameron wants from them!.

well of course!. Because each director has a certain acting style!. So whoever best fits there style they like!. I mean if they think they act good, and look good they like them!. And also a lot of those people have a great since of humor!.!.!.!.so there fun to hang out with, great actors, and they just relate to some better then others!
