Why did Laserdisc movies fail to make an impact on the home video market as oppo!

Question: Why did Laserdisc movies fail to make an impact on the home video market as opposed to DVD's!?
Answers:
1!. They were more expensive than VHS!. One laser disc cost about $40!.

2!. They were big and bulky, like a record album, instead of small and compact like a DVD!.

3!. You had to flip the disc over in the middle of a movie, and any film than ran longer than two hours had to be put on multiple discs!. That meant getting up and changing the disc!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Heres what i found on the internet:

The format was not well-received outside of videophile circles in North America due in large part to the high cost of the players and discs, which were far more expensive than VHS decks and tapes!.

It was estimated that in 1998, Laserdisc players were in approximately 2% of US households (roughly two million)!. By comparison, in 1999, players were in 10% of Japanese households!. Laserdisc has been completely replaced by DVD in the North American retail marketplace, as neither players nor software are now produced there!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Timbo is correct, but I still love my Laserdisc player and I am always on the lookout for more movies!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
