I think for many people, it would be the first role they ever saw him play!. And for me, that was THE VERDICT!.
Yes!.!.!.if I had to pick just one, it would be this Best Picture nominee!.
Not relying on his looks, in fact camoflaging them, he really made me feel for the loser-lawyer taking one last shot at redemption at the end of his career!.
Even though I was a little young when it came on TV, his performance stayed with me!. At that time I hadn't even known him as the perfect-ten blue-eyed matinee ido he was in the late 50s and early 60s!.
And in his younger days, the one that stays with me is Brick in CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF--his first real stretch as an actor!. His scene with Burl Ives is heartwrenching!.
It was also wonderful to see him and CAT co-star Elizabeth Taylor together present the Oscar for Best Picture to Ed Saxon, Ken Utt, and Ron Bozman (producers) for The Silence of the Lambs 34 years later!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I remember him best as Fast Eddie, in The Hustler, one of the absolute best dramas of the early '60s!.
Newman's portrayal of a man whose hunger to be the best at something in his life, even if was only a game of pool, was riveting, bettering such co-stars as George C!. Scott, Piper Laurie and Jackie Gleason hands down!.
