Borrowing DVD's from the library?!

Question: Borrowing DVD's from the library!?
At my local library we can check out CD's and DVD's without a problem, and they have a large selection too!. It's common to rip the CD's to the computer or iPod!. I was wondering, since I read in MacWorld Magazine that Handbrake for the mac is legal, if I could check out the DVD's and rip them onto my iPod!. It is only for my personal use and I will not in any way distribute the movies!. Can I do that and the library not have a complaint!? Can they even find out, if I do decide to do this, that I ripped the movie!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

No there is no way they will find out!. There is no special chip in the cds that tracks who rips it and who doesn't!. All the dvds contain are the movies!. No special chips!. Lots of people quietly do it, as long as you're not distributing copies then its cool!.

Usually in life as long as you do things quietly and don't advertise then you can do a lot of things!. ;-)Www@Enter-QA@Com

They won't figure it out if you ripped it, but if it is copyrighted material, it is against the law to duplicate without special permission!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I think it would be alright!. They wouldn't know unless they watched you copy the movie to your computer and then to itunes!. Www@Enter-QA@Com
