I know I will get a lot of "Boos" with this answer, but I think the greatest superhero was "John Coffey", in the movie, "The Green Mile"!. Not a superhero movie in a sense of the term, but John Coffey fought for justice as well as the others mentioned in this thread!. He didn't bring to justice as many as the others did, but I think it's quality, and not quantity!. Yes, I know you will not agree, but you asked, and I answered!. Www@Enter-QA@Com

1 - The Dark Knight
2 - Iron man
3 to 10 - CRAP!

Ok, Batman, Batman Begins and Spiderman 1 & 2 were not completely horrible, but the rest of that list is pretty bad!. Spiderman 3 was just a mash up of mediocre CGI and stupid "dramatic" scenes that didn't even fit together, and not even one decent villain, out of the three they crammed in there! The same can be said for almost every other superhero movie I've seen!. Heck, I'd put "Kung Fu Hustle" as #3 on my list, but it is not exactly a comic book superhero movie!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

The Dark Knight and Iron Man are definitely tied for me, but the others are cheesy in comparison!. I think the closest another movie has come (As far as I have seen, since i haven't seen the new Hulk or Hell Boy) is the Spider Man series, and they were fairly decent!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Ten, in a numerical order from best to those that are degrees of better!? Suppose my tastes aren't exactly catholic!?

1!." Hellboy 2: The Golden Army" (because I like it better than any other movie that would qualify!. The visual aspects are dazzling and convincing, Del Toro managed to convey artist/writer Mike Mignola's keen witted Hellboy storytelling style, and Ron Perlman gives an absolutley gleeful and perfect performance as a character who should be impossible to play!.)
2!. "The Shadow" (1993) (a successful amalgamation of the Shadow from all mediums in which he appeared in his heyday!.)
3!. "Mystery Men" (the best intentional comedy to feature costumed heroes!. A pastiche with a superior script, good actors with a flair for the absurd, and just the right balance to capture the "Flaming Carrot Universe," which is perhaps more believable than any other comic book "Universe!.")
4!. "Iron Man" (the best movie featuring an "origin story" thus far, although there are a few obvious minor flaws in the script!. Wonderful performance by Robert Downey Jr!. and everyone else involved, as well as an intelligent updating of Iron Man's 1962 origin!. Great use of intentional comedy to humanize both leads and supporting characters, and good restraint of resisting the temptation to make a suit of armor the main focus of the film instead of the man who designed and created the armor!.)
5!. "The Phantom" (a good solid adventure movie which also has an abundance of wit and charm, and benefits from being a period piece!. "The Phantom" is remarkably true to its source material and obviously respects that material)
6!. "Hancock" (Not a traditional "superhero" movie but one that still fits into the genre!. Clever script and convincing CGI work, but suffers a bit from an ending that is just to pat!.)
7!. "Unbreakable" (Another non-traditional movie which only falls into the genre because of its underlying theme and its trappings!. A good meditation on the nature of good and evil, and the real meaning of powers and weaknesses)
8!. "Santo Contra La Mujeres Vampira" (a!.k!.a!. "Santo Against the Vampire Women") (a Mexican movie rich in unintentional comic moments, but which does feature some unexpected twists and some arresting images!. An interesting "genre bender" which fuses the Mexican "mascadores" (masked men, who are heroes who are also professional wrestlers) with the typical Azteca Studio horror movie!. Short on logic, but rich in adventure and thrills!. A good example of the fact that the concept of the "superhero" is not exclusive to America and the oldest film (from 1964) on my list!.)
9!. "Superman" (the film that made the "superhero" genre a possibility!. While not a personal favorite, I do have great respect for the film which had the considerable task of convincing a mainstream audience that it would enjoy a movie based on source material that most considered a disreputable branch of children's literature!. Donner's direction is solid, and his informed choices about how to depict the dreamlike worlds of Krypton and Kansas worked like a charm!. A solid workhorse of a movie made with obvious respect for its unlikely source material!.)
10!. "The Incredible Hulk" ( has an intelligent script, good direction, and an arresting pace!. The casting is impecable, and Bruce Banner emerges as more interesting than the Hulk!. The best adaption of the Hulk comics series, but suffers from some poor logic in a few scenes and relies too heavily on CGI effects!. I just cannot warm up to the too obviously artificially created images of the lead character, nor the mutated version of the Blonsky character, so the climactic battle scene leaves me flat!. Close but no cigar!.)

I haven't seen "The Dark Knight," but that was a conscious decision based on the fact that I hated the "Batman Begins" movie!. I also don't like the Spider-Man, nor X-Men movies, and if I had to choose eleven films I would probably pick the 1951 Japanese "Starman" movie before anything else made in America!. I've been honest, but I expect more than a few thumbs down for being honest and also for liking some unlikely films more than some fan favorites!.
