Was Prot really an alien from another planet or just an insane (but brilliant) person!.

It left a lot of room for the viewer to make up his/her own mind, but in my opinion, I believe him!. I believe that he is actually from another planet and that he uses our bodies as hosts!. Maybe it is because I want to believe, or I think it makes for a better movie!.!.!. either way I believe!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
I haven't seen the DVD but it is supposed to have a couple alternate endings!.
The way I thought it came out was that the alien was the persons consciousness in possession of the body of the person that was mostly brain dead or comatose (as he was after the appointed time and date)!. I think some of it was infered when the doctor started researching the patient's medical history!.

In the book it is pretty much given that he was in fact a real guy, but was "possessed" by Prott, who is an alien entity of some sort!.!. basically, after what happened the guys brain wasn't all there!.!. instead of forming multiple personalities he somehow got Prott's attention!.!.
