A Few of Your Favorite Films?!

Question: A Few of Your Favorite Films!?
I'd like to see some folks list three or four of their favorite movies, with no pretense that a favorite film is the same thing as "the best movie of all time," although I would like to see a brief statement about why you like a particular movie!.

For example, I like "The Thing (from Another World)," the 1951 version, because it has very creative set, and the overlapping voices (actors deliberately stepping on one another's lines) work well to give a natural feeling to what would otherwise seem like an impossible situation!.

I don't particularly care if you list older or newer movies, but I want a better reason for liking a film than "It was awesome!."Www@Enter-QA@Com

The Solomon Brothers---I liked it because it shows you the strength and bond that a family has for each other!. 4 brothers decided their own fates because they didn't want to leave the fifth brother behind!. It was an amazing story based on true events, the family dynamics were touching, and it really made you feel what the characters were feeling!. The love these brothers had for each other is truly remarkable and you can really get a sense of the closeness they shared with each other!.

Fight Club---This is a favorite because through out the book and the movie it made me feel like I was going right along with the character, that it was just him and I!. It also shows how the everyday mundance can really affect a person's mind and the twist at the end left me saying "WOW!."

The Notebook----I really like this movie for the simple fact that no matter how many years passed the love the two main characters had for each other never changed, they were always there for each other, thinking about each other, and the end was one of the most touching and enduring that I've seen!. He stayed with her no matter what because that was the love of his life, he needed to be by her side!. It was truly an amazing and touching movie and makes one wish they find love like that!.

Bram Stoker's Dracula---This is one of those movies that really followed the book very closely and turned out amazing!. The way the character Dracula is written is just remarkable!. You see that he isn't just a monster but a man who lost his soul and his one true love!. You see how he searches to regain that feeling of love and to find someone to share his life with!. Dracula's character was written with so much emotion that you really see a human side to him as well as the monster!.

So there's four, I have many others but I've gone on long enough!. Hope this helps you out and if I can strongly urge you to see any of these movies see "The Solomon Brothers" truly an amazing script, characters and movie!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Fight Club- The first movie I've ever seen that was actually amazing!. I like this movie is because you are basically in the narrators head the whole movie you know what he is thinking, you are basically that character!. I don't want to spoil it if you havent seen it but it has one of if not the greatest twist of all time!. It makes you think for days!.

Memento- This film is also really good!. It's about a man who can't create memories after an accident that resulted in the murder of his wife!. He goes to track down his killer but how can you remember the kill if you can't form new memories!? Great twist as well in this one!.

V for Vendetta- Makes you question your government!. Mainly about Anarchy!.

Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind- The most original movie I've seen in a long time!. About a man who's girlfriend erases him from her memory, and he seeks to do the same!. But he soon realizes he is still in love with her!. Www@Enter-QA@Com

A Clockwork Orange- I think it's great! It has a character you hate, but at the same time feel sympathy for him!. Not to mention it is psychologically terrifying!.

Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure- It's just a really funny movie that involves to totally oblivious teens who are in a crappy band!.

The Great Dictator- Has a great message and it keeps me entertained!. Charlie Chaplin's best movie in my opinion!.

Dawn of the Dead- The only horror movie that as ever scared me!. The Exorcist didn't even come close as scaring me as this one did!. The thought of waking up to that still freaks me out a little sometimes!. I mean the oroginal by the way!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Alien3: This one usually heats up the conversation with my friends!. I love this movie because it brings us 'back to the beginning' with the story - while giving it a fresh take!. 1 Alien, and a load of people who have no idea how to defend themselves!. I love that these people are 'reformed' criminals who have done the worst things imaginable!. I love when one of the characters refers to the Alien as a Dragon!. I love the color, the sound, the acting - It's my favorite of the series (after the first of course!.)

Aladdin: Pure cartoon!. Amazing colors, music, 'acting,' and depth!. Something I can put in at any moment and just watch for pure enjoyment!. (this is actually a 'tough' one for me, as I tend to like just about all cartoons (animated features!.) also 'up there' for me are Sleeping Beauty, Beauty and the Beast, Little Mermaid, Dumbo, Finding Nemo!.!.!. see!.!.!. it's tough!.)

Star Wars: Episode 5, The Empire Strikes Back: I didn't like this one as I was growing up as much as Ep4 or Ep6 - but as I matured, I began to understand the story so much more and found it to be the most adult, and yet, as entertaining as the rest!. (along the same vein, for some reason, I also like Ep2: Attack of the Clones more than Ep1 or Ep3 - perhaps it's just 'middle-child' syndrome rearing it's ugly head again)

Topsy-Turvy & Bullets Over Broadway - about equal in my book!. One is fictional and one is based on fact - but that both are about the creation, production, and performance of a theatrical show speaks to me on a personal level that not many other movies can!. (also in this 'list' I would include Noises Off - great farce, A Chorus Line great, bottom-rung view, and even Muppets Take Manhattan - great pull up your boot-straps)

I will finish with a couple of oldies but goodies:

Desk Set: Tracey and Hepburn at their crackling best
When Harry Met Sally: A time-capsule of 80's relationships
Singles: A time-capsule of 90's relationships!.
Rebel without a Cause: 'cause every kid hates their parents at some point - and no matter how you dress it, that universal truth will never die!.
Strictly Ballroom: A life lived in fear is a life half-lived!.
Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Kaaaaaahhhhhhhnnnnnn!!!!
Star Trek 6: The Undiscovered Country: for the Old Klingon Proverb: Only Nixon Can Go To China!.!.!. GREAT MOVIE!!! (Don't wait for the translation!!!)
Snow White/Fantasia/Toy Story - experimantation got them where they are today, and as amazing as what Asia is producing is, American Ingenuity will always win in my book!.
Akira/Metropolis/Final Fantasy:The Spirit Within: Who said I don't like Asian Animation!?

Oh there are so many more!.!.!. I hate choosing!.

1!. "What Dreams May Come" - I really enjoyed this movie, when he is dead and the movie goes into his world it is just peculiar!. Most people I know haven't even seen the movie but I thought it was pretty cool the way "the other world" is portrayed, "heaven" and "hell!."

2!. "Jurassic Park" - First time as a young girl watching dinosaurs on film look realistic!. I enjoyed watching the way the robots were made to look so alive, I mean, even when they were digitally created they looked very real!. This is one of my top movies to watch when I have nothing else in mind!.

3!. "Pulp Fiction" - First of all, it has the funniest wallet ever made, Second it has an all star cast brought together by Mr!. Tarantino, 3rd it intertwines 4 tales of violence and redemption that works so well about 2 hitmen, a boxer, a gangsters wife, and a pair of 2 diner bandits!.
