Do you think the age consent for films has lowered too much?!

Question: Do you think the age consent for films has lowered too much!?
I love films, but sometimes I'm surprised at how low the age rating is for some films or the content in a film aimed for a younger audience!. Are we a de-sensitised culture!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

Answers:
most definitely!. It is the parents who do not speak up and then we wonder what happened!. On the day they were voting on this issue no one came and they did what they wanted!. It is happening with everything not just movies!. Www@Enter-QA@Com

Not really!. I think its around the appropriate age!. Many teens don't like watching children's movies because they are often, I hate to say it but "dumbed down" and you can't explore many ideas when most childrens movies are very censored!.

When I was 13, I wanted to see good movies with strong storylines and by that age most teens are ready to handle content, by then most of them have experienced rejection, loss, sadness, happiness, success in one way or another so its easy to relate to characters!.

One time when I was 13, someone took me to watch muppet treasure island and I just thought that it was lame!. It just felt insulting like they were taking me to a baby movie!. One thing that hasn't changed is that I don't like horror!. I couldn't handle it then and I can't handle it now!. I've never seen popular movies like friday the 13th and halloween!.

But you do have a point, some movies are just gross and cross the line, like the Lindsay Lohan movie "I know who killed me" - I really wanted to see it and I just felt grossed out!. I didn't think it would be so graphic!. It just went too far, so yea in some ways were are desensitized!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Depends on the movie!. TDK could have been an R with all the violence!.

Yet some people think the mere appearance of a bare breast or nether region merits an R (even in a non-sexual context)!.

One person claiming to be a parent actually asked on a message board for "The Ruins" "How much nudity is in this film!? I am debating whether or not to take my kids!."

Apparently she was okay with the idea of gruesome deaths and killings (which the ads did not hide) but the idea of her son seeing a boob before his time terrified her!. Dimwit!.

So THE VERDICT: desensitized to violence; OVERsensitive to sex/nudity

!.!.!.at least in the U!.S!.A!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Yes they have!. Back in the old days a film could be rated R just for cursing!. PG-13 can get away with too muchWww@Enter-QA@Com
