Is the Johnny Depp movie "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" set in En!

Question: Is the Johnny Depp movie "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" set in England or the USA!?
Charlie's family is very British, but all the street scenes seem to be in the USA and Depp and practically all the other locals have American accents!. Plus, they use dollars, not pounds!.

How did a British family with four invalid grandparents end up in some house that's surely not up to code in the middle of a major American city!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

Answers:
Based on the fantasy book by Roald Dahl, the author never used any particular country as a setting but being British his characters and where they lived mostly were British in nature!. Johnny Depp for the film did not want to use any real accent since their is no particular setting for the book!. Www@Enter-QA@Com

I don't know whether it's supposed to be set in England or the USA!. I didn't see the movie and I'm definitely NOT a Johnny Depp fan!. I do know it was shot in England and that some have spoken of ambiguities in the movie, where at times it seems to be set in the US and at other times, it appears to be set in England!. It's possible they did that on purpose!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
