What does V's opening lines mean when he just uses mostly Vs? from V for Ven!

Question: What does V's opening lines mean when he just uses mostly Vs!? from V for Vendetta !?
Answers:
I can see what you mean, but it's one of my favorite parts!.

first off, evey (notice the v) doesn't know he goes by the pseudonym v, so she asks him who his is and he sort of mocks her asking a masked man his identity!. he then tells her that he will explain his "dramatis persona"!. so begins the "v" speech!. he obviously uses many words beginning with the letter v to allude to his pseudonym!. but what he's saying is that he's a vigilante who is to himself a victim but also a villain as that is how he will be viewed!. then he tells her that the mask isn't because he's trying to be cool but a necessity (he has no face)!. then he tells her that his mission is to go after the people who did this to him and make them pay for torturing him -- and others -- in the name of science and progress; a good cause!.

does that help!? Www@Enter-QA@Com

Excellent question!. That speech is extremely well-written, and really displays the flexibility and beauty of the English language!. I had to get a dictionary to understand some of it the first time I saw the movie too, because that speech vexed me ;)

"V: Voilà! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate!."

That's pretty self-explanatory!. Essentially, what you see here is someone that's been forced to play the victim and the villain by fate!.

"This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished!."

A visage is a mask, so the mask isn't just to cover up his face, it's to represent the 'vox populi,' or voice of the people (it's Latin) that no longer can be heard due to the present government's oppression!.

"However, this valorous visitation of a by-gone vexation, stands vivified"

He's saying he's there to be an annoyance to those in power, and is animated/energetic about doing so!.

"and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin van-guarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition!."

He's going to take out the government that's been committing many wrong-doings!. Get a dictionary for individual words you don't understand!.

[carves V into poster on wall]
"V: The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta, held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous!."

He wants to get revenge against the government for the crimes it has committed against the people!. Only then will good people be liberated!.

"[giggles]
V: Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose,"

A vichyssoise is a kind of very thick soup, and he's saying he's being long-winded and kind of difficult to understand!.

"so let me simply add that it's my very good honor to meet you and you may call me V!.
Evey Hammond: Are you like a crazy person!?
V: I am quite sure they will say so!."Www@Enter-QA@Com

I think it has to do with the theme of his speech and the fact that he just likes poetry!. It is kinda poetic the way he uses the letter 'v'!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

OMG i just saw the movie!. lol

But he uses it to be poetic and to seem somewhat humorous because of the coincidental constant V's being used!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
