Answers:
10,000 B!.C!. isn't a true story!. Its completely inaccurate!. If you want something partially inaccurate try!.!.!.

2001: A Space Odyssey
Elizabeth: The Golden Age
300
Gladiator
The Patriot
Memoirs Of A Geisha
Braveheart
The Last SamuraiWww@Enter-QA@Com

To Kill a King

set during the English civil war

Elizabeth with Cate Blanchett

I don't know if you want to consider Braveheart because it is one seriously f*cked up film & as I understand it is not terribly accurate at all, they just about got the names right - Rob Boy & Michael Collins with Liam Neeson & also fall into the same category!.

American History films - Gone with the Wind is the one that comes to mind, All the President's Men with Robert Redford & Dustin Hoffman about the Watergate Scandal!. JFK starring Kevin Costner & directed by Oliver Stone, apparently not terribly accurate either!. In terms of Westerns, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, Tombstone & Wyatt Earp!. Glory & An American Gangster with Denzil Washington!. Www@Enter-QA@Com

How about "Little BIg Man"!? Great movie from 1971 about White/Indian interaction in the west in the late 1800s!. Has historical events such as Custer's Last Stand; murder of Wild Bill Hickok!. There are probably others!.

Don't do 10,000 B!.C!. If you do, then it's a no-brainer because all the dates are wrong!. Way wrong!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I haven't seen this movie, but it seems good and relevant!. I don't know how you can tolerate old black and white movies, but the Criterion Collection's "Young Mr!. Lincoln" might help you!. Don't buy the DVD, it's expensive, it's best to rent!.

(saving private ryan) I dont know if its a true story but i do know it describes the events that were happening during WORLD WAR II when hitler was the commander of germany!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Pearl Harbor
The PatriotWww@Enter-QA@Com

The Pianist has facts in it I believe and a Dutch film called "My Life as a Dog" might be good too!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Gnags of New York would be a good one!. I'm not sure how acurate it is, but it's a good movie!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

My teacher told us that 10,000 B!.C!. was totally wrong, so don't do that one!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Well, it depends on how close your movie is supposed to be to reality!. I wouldn't do 10,000 B!.C!. because it's completely ficticious!. It features an event or two which have historical parallels, but they're so egregiously wrong it's pathetic!.

Titanic would be a good film to work with!. Jack and Rose are actually fictional, and there was quite a fit thrown at the time the movie came out because James Cameron made up fictional people rather than tell one of the thousands of stories of people who were actually on the ship!.

Another good place to start would be The Patriot starring Mel Gibson, especially as this is for an American History class!. The events are supposed to be about some of the formative events in United States history (so it's an "American History" film), but the facts are largely wrong, and I can even give you a humorous place to start with the inaccuracies!.!.!. which might make the research more interesting!.

If you decide to go with The Patriot, start by looking for the comedy special "Assume the Position" by Robert Wuhl!. He does a spectacular routine on things that are "based on a true story", and covers The Patriot!.

If it doesn't matter whether or not the movie is part of American history (such as Titanic and The Patriot), Gladiator is also a good choice!. It's woefully inaccurate, but supposedly based on a true story!.

With that one, you can start with Commodus and Marcus Aurelius!. Marcus Aurelius wasn't strangled to death, and didn't pass up Commodus for another emperor!. He was very supportive of the idea of his son as emperor, and had been shedding his power and turning things over to his son for several years prior to his death!. Commodus had been running Rome for a number of years by the time Marcus Aurelius died (of illness)!.

Once he took over, Commodus ruled more than a few months!. He ruled for well over a decade, and wasn't killed in the arena!. He was strangled to death!.!.!. in his bathtub!.!.!. by another dude!.!.!. who happened to be a professional wrestler!.!.!. that Commodus was having an affair with!.

Now see, wouldn't that have been a more interesting ending than the one they came up with!? That doesn't even get into the fact the nearest Maximus to Commodus came by about a hundred years after Commodus died!.

AND, you can move from the death of Commodus straight into one of the most popular book series of all times, because the successors to Commodus, all of whom ruled and died in the same year, were: Pertinax, Didius Julianus, Clodius Albinus, and Septimus Severus!. If you're thinking the last two names look familiar, ayup!. You've just found where she got Dumbledore's and Snape's names from (and if you read their history, you also know where she got the story for both characters up to and including the death of Dumbledore)!.

If you want something a bit more contemporary, you can do Pearl Harbor, which is supposed to be based on a true story!. Tora Tora Tora tells the Japanese side of that story, so you can check that movie against the facts!.

Young Guns is based on the life of Billy the Kid, if you want something with a wild west flair to it, and there's a good bit of material out there you can check the dates and facts on (plus again, American history specifically)!. That one comes with a twist because Young Guns 2 is also based on American history, but it's based on the history of what could be a hoax someone was trying to pull off!.

Anyway, good luck with your assignment!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
