there is no answer, depends on the version you watch!. im afraid you wont be getting any money from your friend!. theres no way to settle it!.
for the record tho, i think han shot first, and he should!. it makes his character a bit more ruthless, which he always seemed to be!. he is a space pirate after all!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Han shot first!
In the originals, and in the 90's remastered versions, Han shot Greedo!. In a later version, George Lucas changed it so Greedo shot at Han and missed, then Han shot Greedo!. However, fans were pretty infuriated at this, as it destroyed half the basis of Han's character as a ruthless smuggler/all-around shady guy!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
