"What movie is this synopsis from sean astin's movie or tv show appeara!

Here is what I remember he is in this think tank where he some how gets a hold of music that's banned and then locks himself in a room and plays it for everyone before they break in and shoot him then they flash forward where kids in the future have a bootleg of the recording and they take off there headsets!.
I thought it was a outer limits but its not if you know what tv show this was on the episode name and tv show name that would greatly appreciate this!.
