It was a huge risk because it basically outlined the life of William Randolph Hearst, who owned a powerful publishing empire, including scores of daily newspapers in the US!. Hearst unsuccessfully applied enormous pressure to try to get the release of the film stopped!.

It broke with convention by using strange camera angles and lighting!.!.!. glamorized and mocked a long-time affair Hearst had with an actress (Marion Davies), ridiculed the character's temper and unsuccessful runs at public office,

Orson Welles wrote, directed and acted in this movie!.!.!.!.
