Question: Why did the Star Wars prequels suck so much!?

They didn't suck, but weren't nearly as good as the original SW!.
Lucas always had a mind to put weird ceatures, aliens and such in his movies but never had the budget nor technology to make it happen until now!. But, instead of concentrating on the story and using special FX like a tool to carry the story along; he made the FX the story instead!. When you use alot of FX the realtionship between the audience and the movie can become emotionless!. What can the audience relate to when nothings real!?
Another mistake was in starting Anakin Skywaker's too early in the first movie!. If the point was to show Dark Vader's beginings how do we get it by showing him as an underdeveloped 9 year old!? Sure he lived a hard life as a kid and was taken from his mother but where, in the first movie, was the true epiphany toward the dark side!? My guess is that Lucus was trying to draw in the kids in first movie!. If you really look at it; nothing in the first movie had any hard ties to the main story, other then some ackward writing points!. C-3PO was created by Dark Vader!?, Midi-chlorians!? It's not the writter job to make the audience "understand" anything!. They should've showed everything when he was a teen (like Luke) then you can truly see his beginnings from a raw and growing emotional state of being when he can be swayed more readily!. It was hard seeing Anakin leave his mom but the moment was gone as soon as it came!. His way toward the dark side didn't come until halfway mark of the Attack of the Clones!. Plus, beside the death of his mother what were the other factors leading him toward the dark side, teenage anxiety!?

I admit they needed work; especially on the dialogue!. In my opinion what was missing, and I know this sounds silly: Marcia Lucas!. She was there for the originals and she was along side him working on them!. I know she is credited as editor but clearly she had influence as his wife!. Sometimes when you lose your other half that great spark of creativity fizzles!.
Anyway, enough about that part!. I think also the expectations of the movies ruined them for a lot of people!. Most people went in with an expectation of a second coming and that just doesn't happen, especially after 20 odd years!. This is why I tell people if they have never watched Star Wars and want to watch the prequels to watch them first, this way they won't be quite as disappointed!.

The real reason why is that George Lucas is such a big shot ( sucessful,rich,powerful) that no one would dare tell him that he needed to work more on the dialogue, the script, and redo the acting scenes!. The Original Trilogy was so successful and loved that he just figured he can just put out anything and get the same results!. Money-wise he did!. But the majority of the people were not completely satisfied!. I liked the prequels but each one had a handful of painful scenes to look at; all having to do with the acting and dialogue!. George Lucas likes to re-release his movies w/ more special effects every couple years!. I just wish he could re-release them with better acting scenes!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
I think the reason is because in the prequels they focused too much on trying to get the best special effects, and they sacrificed story for effects!. Www@Enter-QA@Com
