Hollywood video-not informed about late fees?!

Question: Hollywood video-not informed about late fees!?
Are video rental stores required to inform you when a video is late and that they're charging you a late fee!?

My roommates and I rent from Hollywood video and we always turned our movies in and rented more the same day without any employee saying anything about a late fee being on our record until a few days ago!. The movies that were supposedly late, had been turned in for some time already!.

I'm just wondering why were were told so late, and why they couldn't tell us when we turned them in!. Is that required of them though!?

By the way, I have no idea where the proper place for this question would be, so I put it here in Movies!. If you guys have a better suggestion let me know! lol Thanks!. :)Www@Enter-QA@Com

I work at Hollywood Video, and i have a Q about your question, and all adress both so read whichever applies

1 you brought back movies the same day, that were late 3 days or what ever, that same day rented another movie with no mention of it being late

2 brought back the movies rented 3 days late and you didnt know they were 3 days late, so when the employee mentioned a late fee you were suprised
!.!.!.!.
1at least at my hollywood we try to tell costomers that they have latefees everytime they rent, once they are checked in a screen pops up with the late fees, if the movies are late but havent been returned when you rent another screen pops up saying outstanding rentals!. Both i try to tell the costumers each time they rent, its not a requirement to tell the late fees, but its good costumer service, but it can happen when theres no mention, cause we have like 3546574675 different sales pitches we have to throw you,!.!.!.it s***s!. so it can happen not on purpose and next time they would tell you

2 if you brought back movies late, and they didnt tell you til you rented again!. I have a question for you!? take a wild guess about how many late movies come in a day !.!.!.hundreds we wouldnt have the time to tell everyone/call everyone to ssay bring back, superbad and transformers they are 2 days late or what have you, when you open up your account we explain how the late fees work!.!.!.no matter if 1,3,5 days late upon the movie return the computer rerents the movie for the alloted 5 days cycle!.
___
they only time we call a custumer about a late movie is on the 31st day of it being late!.!.!. and that list prints up every day, with usually 1-2 people on it or what have you, and that phone call is to tell you , that you have 20 days to return that movie or it will be going to collections

So to answer your question Hollywood video doesnt force you to pay the late fees unless you want to rent!. and were not required to tell you that your movies are late unless its 31 days, when you rent however we will say you have late fees, and depending on how much you have (generally at my store) <20 put a buck or 2 on it <30 5-10 bucks, 40+ 15 bucks, anything above that pay half, or be reasonable Www@Enter-QA@Com

I work in a small local video store!.!. and I know that we are required to wait 3 days to call about a late movie!.!. but, fees are random!.!. If I see fees on an account I ask if they want to pay any of it!.!. (I don't demand full payment for it)!.!. this lets them know they are there!.!. but they are not under any obligation to call or write to you about them unless they are planning on sending it to collections!. It would have been nice of them to let you know when you rented again!.!. but!.!.!. it's not like they could just make it up as the date the movies were returned would show up with the amount of the fine!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
