Can you give me an honest review of The Dark Knight?!
Question: Can you give me an honest review of The Dark Knight!?
I've been putting off seeing it because I have yet to see a really great review for the movie that covers all the important points!.
What I mean is, absolutely no movie is perfect, even in my favourite film in the entire world I know what is wrong with it and what could have been done better, despite that its still my favourite film!. So far the vast majority of reviews I have read have gone:
"Dark Knight!.!.!. blah blah blah!.!.!. gritty!.!.!. blah blah blah Heath Ledger, tragedy great loss to acting, should get oscar!.!.!.!. five stars"
No one actually has written a review in which they talk about the actual movie!. I want to know if the plot is original and carries well, how the pacing is during the film, if Christian Bale is less flat than he was in the first one!.
(I really wasn't impressed with Batman Begins, which is another reason I have been putting off seeing Dark Knight!. I felt it was drawn out with too many off-shoot plots springing all over the place and the Scarecrow was ashamedly underused!.)

I hope I don't get linched for this, but it was piss poor!.
Like the first one it had too many subplots that were all over the place, there was a lot less of Batman than you would expect in a batman movie!.
As for Ledger's performance, it wasn't anything special whatsoever!. In my opinion of Joker's, my list kinda goes; Mark Hamil, Jack Nicholson, Ceaser Romero, then Heath Ledger!. I think it's only been hyped because he died!.
If you didn't like the first one, I doubt you would like this one to be honest with you, especially if you are an old school Batman fan because Nolan's choices when it came to The Joker are pretty much sacrilegious!. In Burton's Batman, Nicholson had it pretty much perfect, right mix of insanity and fun, where as Ledger just blows stuff up from a distance!.
Christian Bale's performance of Batman is pretty much the same as all his movies, the same way he played in Equilibrium and American Psycho and BB!. In my opinion a good Batman he does not make!.
Some people will call this film 'gritty' which is a good way to try and kill a franchise, X-men 3 was supposedly 'gritty' and that pile of rubbish almost made me cry when I saw how much it ruined X men!. Casino Royale was also described this way and I can't stress enough how much that movie sucked as well!. Gritty is another word for realism, which in a comic book movie, just doesn't work, especially in a world like Batman where many of the characters have a certain flamboyance which needs to be acknowledged!. Not in a Joel Schumaccher (sp!?) way, but certainly in a way where the characters actually have a vague resemblance to their comic book counter parts, which unfortunately, in Nolans world, do not!.
Wait till it comes our on DVD and then watch it with Rifftrax or something you'll probably get more satisfaction from it!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I think the best way to enjoy a movie is to watch it and THAN read a review or do a review yourself!.

I'm very critical of movies as a rule, I nit-pick at everything, and I can honestly say it's the best film I've seen this year, and in a long, long time!.
It's gritty, violent, with superb acting from all cast members - and the hype about Heath Ledger's performance is not exagerrated!. He is simply brilliant!.

I'm not really into batman so I thought it would be crap for me but I really enjoyed it - I give it maybe 4/5

I would say go and watch this film!. The performances from the actors are great and the story is much more enthralling than Batman Begins which i think was quite poor!.
Its not much at all like the original dark knight film which was much more visually effective with its use of comic book style effects and locations which is very tim burton but the new film is updated for the modern audience who enjoy dark gritty flicks with much action, it also has aspects of a gritty film noir thriller such as double indemnity or memento but less complicated!.
its quite a simple narrative to follow which is typically hollywood but it does have a few good twists and uses some simple multi strand narration (sub plots)!.
overall the best part is the performance from the actors, especially Ledger and the worst point about the film is the length which i feel at 2 and a half hours is slightly unecessary and could have been cut more!.

It keeps on track, unlike Batman Begins (BB) !.!. although in BB defence it needed to bring many parts of Batman's story into one film and I really liked it!. I have never been a Batman fan - never watched any of the others unless forced to at Christmas, etc, and only watched BB because my 10 year old son wanted to get it and I was hooked !.!.!. and I really enjoyed this second film!. The comments about Heath Ledger's performance, as other writers have stated, is not exaggerated - it is an exceptional performance!. The film is MUCH darker than BB, the scarecrow gets a cameo and you really feel that Heath Ledger's character would have continued into the third installment!. Go see it!. The performances are spot on, there is one storyline, the special effects are great and it doesn't hold any punches !.!.!. and Mrs Cruise isn't in it!.!.!.!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
The Dark Knight was honestly a good movie, but I would suggest seeing it more than once!. Obviously, yes, the film was "gritty" and Heath Ledger was great (which you've already heard!.) But it was definitely not a perfect film!. Many parts went by very quickly, so at times things could get confusing!. There are a lot of twists and turns in the plot, and some of them can be lost on the viewer!. If you thought the first one was too drawn out, then chances are, you'll feel similar about this movie!. As the Batman, Christian Bale has definitely improved!. His gadgets are all really great, as well as his fighting styles, but the truth is, he is not as much the main focus in this movie as he was in the first!. Several things happened that surprised me, and not all them in a good way!. I think the best thing about the movie is the supporting characters!. Harvey Dent, Rachel Dawes, Gordon, Alfred, Mr!.Fox, and of course the Joker really helped carry the film!. This movie is definitely more intense than Batman Begins, and the tone is entirely different!. Where as in the first movie, there was a feeling of despair and corruption, this sequel has a much bigger, more city-like feel!. It is almost easy to forget that the setting is Gotham instead of Chicago!.
The plot is definitely original, and, as I said before, the film is paced VERY quickly!. Basically, I would definitely suggest that you see this movie, because it truly terrific, although not without flaws!. the example is harvey dent: who at the beginning was a hero for putting away the mobsters!.
but he is driven insane
by the loss of his love (which should of been him; hence "die a hero")
and soon becomes the villian and almost kills lt!. gordons family ("live long enough to see yourself become the villian")

I know this is a positive review, but this is coming from someone who has never seen a batman movie nor a Heath Ledger movie before Dark Knight!.!.!.!.

Well I thought it was great!.!.I mean I would had to of liked it!.!.since I saw it 5 times!.!.!.Heath Ledger defintely aced the Joker!.!.as u probally hear in every other review!. Christian Bale did alright!.!.but I didn't really like his voice in this 1 bc it sounded kinda stupid!.!.but he still acted the part good!.!.!.!.I liked Katie Holmes better 4 Rachel!.!.but they replaced her wit Maggie Gyllenhaal!.!.!.The guy who plays Harvey Dent in my opinion was alright 4 the part too!.!.!.!.somethin Eckhart!.
