Freddy Kruger the anti-hero?!
Question: Freddy Kruger the anti-hero!?
I heard some people say that Freddy (of nightmare on elm street) is little bit of (or like) an anti-hero!. Now forgive me that I don't know too much about the term "anti-hero", but Freddy (to me) is & forever will be a villain in my point of view!. What do y'all mean by anti-hero!? Freddy Kruger is a hardcore villian, not an anti-hero!. He sorta played the anti-hero in Freddy vs Jason, but that's debatable!.!.!.
An anti-hero is someone in the leading role who plays the part of the hero- often unwillingly, but who has none of the qualities one would expect of a hero!. An anti-hero can be cowardly, dishonest, brutal, selfish, weak (either physically or morally), but he's the one who prevents the disaster or takes down the evil organization, saving the world even if he wasn't trying to!.
The best example of an anti-hero is Riddick from Pitch Black and the Chronicles of Riddick!. He could care less if everyone around him dies as long as he lives!. And he only gets involved in the larger fight when it threatens him personally or harms someone close to him!.
In the 70's characters like Clint Eastwood's Dirty Harry and Charles Bronson in Death Wish weren't really anti-heroes, they were unpleasant characters but still heroes, because their primary motivation was justice!.
