Question: I just watched the movie Vertigo (jimmy stewart & kim novak)!?
whats up with the ending!?!?! I really don't understand it!. I mean i know that Jimmy stewart was going "have a second chance at saving Madeline" aka killing faux madeline but i mean why did she jump off the roof when the nun came up!? Did she think it was like the devil about to punish her for taking part in a murder because the nun lady's hood was up!? That left me completly nonplussed and it totally ruined the amazing creepily good movie that Vertigo is (as is all of hitchcocks movies) but anyways does anyone understand what is up with the ending of that movie!? Scottie figure it out when he saw Judy with the Red pendant from the portrait!. He takes her to Mission and forces her to climb up the tower once more, telling her that he wants to re-enact the scene in which he failed to save Madeleine!. As they reach the top, she confesses the truth!.
Judy (the fake Madeline) didn't jump off the roof, she fell from fear seeing dark shadow of the nun Judy thought it was Madeline ghost and was frightened, backs away from the approaching shadow and steps backwards off the tower ledge, plunging to her death!.
Two things happen at that moment one Scottie was cured of his vertigo as we see him on the ledges staring down at Judy's bodyand Second he lost the love of his life once again!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

the idea was that james stewart drove her to go up to the tower and repent for what she had done, but when she gets up there she gets startled by the nun coming out of the dark and falls to her death!. i know, its a pretty rubbish way to end the movie!. you'd think standing on the edge of the tower she'd know that a backwards step would result in death but apparently not!. anyway, jimmy stewart realises that he has overcome his fear of heights, but at a huge cost, probably to his sanity as well!. anyway, i get what they were aiming for in that scene but i think the nun thing just ruined the whole credibility of it, and the movie ends on a whimper!.
