The dark knight was better, however i'm not sure if it will beat the titanic’s 600ml domestically it will probably get close to this however!. If it doesn’t then that’s ok this is a comic movie and the highest grossing one ever!.
like the Joker said in the dark knight 'its not about the money, its about sending a message' the dark knight has showed the world with the write story, cast and marketing campaign superhero movies can be very successful!.
Christopher Nolan as opened a new door for comic book movies and the dark knight will be used to measure how good a superhero movie is from now on!.
If Heath Ledger doesn’t win an Oscar for this movie I will be amazed, never in my life have I seen a comic book villain treated with so much respect and it pays off in heaps and bounds!.
Ledger spent a month in a Hotel room on his own to perfect the Jokers laugh and voice and he also studied how ventriloquists throw their voices!. Heath was very dedicated to the role and is the greatest comic book villain of all time!.

Well!.!.!.to choose what is better is based on your opinion!.Titanic is more for the drama/tradgedy people!.Dark Knight had suspense/action!.But a good performance on both ends!.
As for records,I saw on the news that Dark Knight had the biggest opening weekend in history!0_0
If the man playing the joker had not have died just after finishing the movie(rest in peace),I`m more than sure he would of got an emmy!.Probably someone will accept it on his behalf!.
