You can blame this one on the Oscars, which is what Anthony Hopkins got for playing the now iconic Hannibal "the cannibal" Lecter, whose voice was said to be a combination of Katherine Hepburn and Truman Copote!.
Update: Silence of the Lambs won 5 oscars, Jodie Foster for Best Actress, Jonathan Demme for Best Director, Best Picture and Best Writing!.
So basically, Silence of the Lambs was the first horror movie to be acknowledged by the Academy and not for special effects!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

it was good but i never saw what the fuss was about either!. lecter himself is just a camped up freak with superpowers, the only thing i liked particularly about the movie was clarice, i think jodie foster acted that part very well and made her a very strong heroine!. never mind the film, i dont see why people like lecter!. he has been consistently voted one of the greatest villains of all time but i really dont see why!. hes camp, hes not remotely scary, and the stuff about him being able to tell things he would never humanly be able to know is just ridiculous!. plus, not having a motivation can sometimes be good, but in his case, it just makes me think he's a collection of character traits without any reason for his being!. i found the movie se7en to be much better in creating a threatening world with a villain with a powerful motivation, and it was ethically and theologically more interesting than lambs!. it mademe think about it afterwards, whereas lambs is just a thriller!. i have to admit that the style of the movie is good, but apart from that and clarice, i dont think its great!. also, brian cox's lecktor in the movie manhunter is far more threatening and credible a villain, plus he comes across as genuinely charming and deceptive as opposed to a guy who i wouldnt approach close enuff to get eaten in the first place!.!.!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
It came out a long time ago and had no reservations at the time!. It really freaked a bunch of people out!. Plus the chemistry between Anthony Hopkins and Jodie Foster was awesome!. When the movie "Seven" came out with Brad Pitt, critics were saying it was the best movie to come out in the genre since Silence of the Lambs!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
