Step Up 2 - right at the very end, they performed in the streets while it was raining!.

I guess it adds volume and intensity to the movie, making it a dramatic and memorable scene!. Plus since its a dancing movie, they utilized the rain/water and incorporated it into their dance steps, just like you see with Gene Kelly in 'Singing in the rain' -the swishing of the feet on sidewalks!.

In other movies, for characters it could be a sign of a loss of inhibitions, or an act of "who cares its raining, im going to do this!" You might notice that too in 'The Notebook' where Allie kissed Noah even though she was engaged, it really does add something to the scene!

Rain could also add dimension to the location/surroundings in the movie!. For example 'Sleepless in Seattle' - You might notice that it rained often during the movie (If you didn't know, Seattle is the wettest city in US)

Rain can also help to reinforce the emotions in the scene, for example, a 'sad scene' - you might see rain splattering on the windows, sounds on the roof etc!. giving it a gloomy effect

hope that helpsWww@Enter-QA@Com

there's a rain scene in Step Up 2 - The Streets- it's an awesome dance scene, made even better by the rain!. They are there because they have been told that they cant compete - so they dance outside in the rain to prove a point!.
