I would put Adam West in a category by himself!. Simply because the Batman TV show, was done in a very tongue-in-cheek manner, and had a style all it's own!. Adam West is my personal favourite!.
But as for the films!. In my opinion, Michael Keaton was the best actor in the role!. I had known Mr Keaton's work as a stand up comedian, and comedy actor!. When they announced he was to portray Batman in the film!. I assumed the film would be very much like the TV series, and he'd be good for the role!. But when it was announced that the film would actually be faithful to the dark tone of the comic book!.!.!. I had serious doubts about Michael Keaton's ability to take on such a dark role!. I was very wrong!. His portrayal of Batman blew me away!. He was perfect for the role! He had the dark intensity of a nice guy, struggling with a very troubled side of himself!. His remains the most memorable take on the Cape Crusader, in my opinion!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

All of the actors mentioned above did justice to the character of Batman in their own way, and so from a certain aspect it is unfair to compare their performances!. Still, i prefer Christian Bale as Batman because i thought that the "darker" side of Batman was well portrayed by him, most probably because the writers (Christopher Nolan, Jonathan Nolan and David Goyer) and of course, the director of Bale's Batman movies, Christopher Nolan did an amazing job directing him and brought the best out of him!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
In my opinion as a Batman fan from birth:
When I was a kid!. l loved Adam West!. That show was campy, but it was perfect for a kindergarten kid!. I watched that show every day after school, without fail!.
As an adult, I liked Michael Keaton!. He did a great job!. I think his Batman was great for the time period it was made!. Batman had been getting more serious in the comics at that time!. That was reflected on the silver screen and in the incredible show "Batman; The Animated Series"!.
I couldn't stand to even watch the other Batman movies!. I tried!. I really tried!. But Batman is almost sacred to me!. I can't stand the way those movies were handled!. It makes me nauseous to think about it!. Although I seem to remember that Val Kilmer did a good job on his own, but the rest of the movie let him down!.
Today, Christian Bale portrays Batman in the most realistic way!. He makes Batman seem plausible!. I really love his performance!. Batman is a complicated character and Bale does a good job showing the kind of dilemmas a guy like that would go through in his own personal and professional life!.
That said, I think a lot of credit needs to go to the writers and the director!. The story is outstanding and the look and feel of the movie goes a long way!. It provides a great framework to showcase Christian Bale's performance!.
I don't really think you can talk about Batman without mentioning The Joker!. I had my doubts as to whether Heath Ledger could pull it off!. He certainly didn't look like any Joker I'd ever seen before!. Jack Nickleson did a decent job, but I wasn't totally satisfied with the way his portrayal!. Mark Hamel did a great job in Batman The Animated Series!. He was the best joker I'd ever seen!. He's my gold standard against which al other Joker's were measured!. That was until I saw The Dark Knight!.
Looks aside, Heath Ledger's performance was outstanding!. He managed to capture the chaos that is the Joker!. When I saw the movie, I was amazed when people in the audience laughed at the Joker even when he was doing horrible things!. Thats a performance worth remembering!. Its really sad that he's gone!. I don't think they'll be able to come up with another actor to play that character half as well in the upcoming films!.
So, I'm going with Christian Bale, but he probably had the most to work with thanks to the outstanding story, director and fellow actors!.

My opinion would be Michael Kenton as Batman!. He was more believable and more on point with his character!.
