Question: In the Dark Knight!.!.!.
Did the Joker's (Heath Ledger) drunken father really put a knife in his mouth and say "Why so serious son!?"
And everyone saying he needed to smile more, isn't that a reason as to why he became the Joker!?
And the whole story about his wife leaving him because of the scars on his face!.
Or did he just joke around with people and make up all those lies about his life!?
Me and my boyfriend are debating on this!. I'm saying all of that really happened to him because why else would he become a crazy cold-blooded murderer!? But my boyfriend thinks he was just joking about all of it!.

Sorry, i think he's right!.!. But here's why:
Since it showed him telling two different stories, that's supposed to prove that he's actually lying about both of them!.
Providing no back story for the Joker or explaining how he became the way he is makes him a more fearful a villian!. Otherwise with a back story, you might know that he used to be normal and is just seeking revenge for example!. Having the mystery surrounding him, portrays him as something that is almost unhuman and all the more terrifying!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

He was joking, trying to mess with the people!. The idea is that you watch an entire movie about this guy, and still know essentially nothing about him, I thought it was great, plus in the comics the joker never had one specific back story!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
He made up a different story every time he told someone how he got the scrars!. He told the one guy about his father giving them to him then he told Rachel he gave them to himself so his wife wouldn't feel bad about her scars!. He was just making them up!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
