Who did Batman go after in The Dark Knight?(warning: spoiler)!

Question: Who did Batman go after in The Dark Knight!?(warning: spoiler)
In The Dark Knight, The Joker reveal his dilemma to Batman: Rachael or Dent!. Save one!.

Now I know Batman said "Rachael" to Gordon!. Did he mean for Gordon to go after Rachael - or that he was going after Rachael!? I've even read movie reviews that got the two different interpretations of this plot point!.

Did Batman really go after Dent, choosing the city over his own feelings!? Or did the Joker pull a fast one on Batman knowing he would go after Rachael only to find Dent!? If so, why does the Joker suspect Batman has feelings for Rachael!? Shouldn't he (the Joker) suspect that Batman would go after Dent!?

Nevertheless, that Joker!.!.!.one bad Mutha!.!.!.!. Www@Enter-QA@Com

Answers:
Batman went after Rachel!. When he's on his way out, Gordon asks him "Who are you going for!?" and that's when he yells her name!. The Joker gave him the wrong address on purpose, knowing the damage Rachel dying would do to both him and Dent!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

well i feel that batman at first did say to gordon that he was going after rachael, however on his way i guess he changed his mind because he thought that Dent was gothams true hero!. So he chose to save Dent instead!. And i dont think that the Joker knew that batman had feelings for rachael, he chose to attack rachael because he was mad at Dent, and rachael was dents girlfriend!. But besides that something cheesy that i noticed is that the way that two face got his burns was from the fire accident, but in the movie batman forever it shows that he was burned with acid while he was in court so that really didnt make sense, still a good movie though!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

He really went after Dent, because Dent can save the city!. I can't watch the movie again because I don't like it, but didn't Gordon ask prior who he (Gordon) should go after!?
I know!.!. always sacrificing himself!. Anyway, disappointed with the movie since the first one was so good!. Joker had too much power and I hardly saw Batman!. Joker was too smart and how did he suspect since he never knew Batman and was never around!. Plus Batman and Bruce Wayne characters hardly interracted with Rachael Dawes for other people to even suspect anything!.!.!.I ask same question as you!.!.!.

Why couldn't Batman just finally kill him and hesitated in the street!? When he easily kills those bad thugs and murderers!. Don't understand!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Batman went after Rachel, the Joker lied and switched who was where!. He knew he had feelings for Rachel because of how he dove after her out the window during Dent's fund raiser!. If you listened Gordon asked Batman which one he was going after and Batman said "Rachel"!. It was just another way for Joker to screw with Batman!. also he wanted to turn Dent evil and Rachel's death with Batman saving him would push him over the edge!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

He goes to where the Joker says Rachel is but he gave them the wrong address!.
Batman sends Gordon to get Dent but, again, the Joker switched the addresses!.

The Joker knows Batman has feelings for Rachel because at the fund raiser Bruce throws for Dent, when the joker drops Rachel out the window Batman jumps after her!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

He chose to go after Rachel, but when he got to the location where she was suppose to be, it was Dent who was there!.

So yah, I guess the joker did pull a fast on on Batman!.

It's a really good movie!Www@Enter-QA@Com

in my opinion i think Batman knew the addresses were switched and he went after Dent on purpose and intended for Gordon to find Rachel!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I think he went after Dent cause Batman said that he's gotham city's last hope!. But too bad Dent turned out insane instead of making the streets a safer place to be!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Batman went after Dent because he believed Dent was Gotham's white knight and their last hope to be crime-free, so he chose the lives of many over the life of RachelWww@Enter-QA@Com

batman went after dent and they both got out safe but then the building explodes and dent had oil or gasoline or something on his face and his face catches on fire and after all that batman technically saved him but dent becomes two-face and wants revenge on batman cause he didn't save rachael!. So about an hour later dent tries to kill batman and he dies and batman got blamed for it so now batman becomes the villian to make sure dent doesn't get blamed which was stupid if you ask me!. well batman won't kill joker because then joker will be dead and batman won't be needed anymore but joker won't kill batman cause he likes messing with his mind!. so overall batman choose the city over his feelings and let gordon go after rachael but they don't get there in time and she dies!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Batman was going to go after Rachael but the Joker switched the addresses because he knew that Batman was going to choose Rachael and probably save who he chose!. So he switched them so Batman would save Dent and Rachel would die which would push Harvey over the edge and become a villain, two face!. The Joker knew that Batman had feelings for Rachael since he jumped out the window at the party to save her!. Then just to make sure that Batman did have feelings for Rachael, he mentioned her in the interrogation room and he flipped out so then he was sure!. I think he just switched them because he wanted to pull Dent down which he mentions at the end of the movie when he is hanging upside down off the edge of the building!. He says all it took was a little push to get Dent to become a villain which was for Batman to save him and let Rachael die!. When he said he was going to make Batman break his one rule, he was talking about him not killing anyone intentionally!. He ended up having to kill Harvey Dent intentionally to save the city!. Earlier Dent had locked away 500 criminals in one case or something!. Then in the Subway Batman said if he was caught doing anything corrupt everything would be undone so Batman had to kill Dent to prevent anyone from finding out about his corruption and then releasing hundreds of criminals back onto the street!. So the Joker was trying to break Batman's one rule, but not right when he was going after Rachael who turned out to be Dent!. also when the Joker was hanging from the edge of the building he said that Harvey was his "ace in the whole"!. He was talking about his final way to break Batman's one rule and it ended up working, Batman had to kill Dent!. So the Joker really did "win" you could say!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
