Why can't movie companies release PG versions of their 12 rated films?!

Question: Why can't movie companies release PG versions of their 12 rated films!?
It really frustrates me that my little boy can't watch some of the recent superhero films because there are rated 12 or 15!. I know some of these movies do contain adult themes which is why I won't allow him to see them but why can't the movie makers and companies who produce them release PG versions of the movies on DVD so at least the younger children can watch films such as Indiana Jones and Spiderman!? Is there a reason they can't do this!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

An old Film Studies teacher of mine went to work for the BBFC (British Board of Film Classification) and apparently there are guidelines on how they classify each film and what certificate they give it!. For example, she was among the people who gave Titanic a 12, it was very nearly a PG but due to the fact there was just one "F" word in there, it nudged it into a 12!. That's all it needs to be for them to deem it unsuitable for children!.
So, I believe they should either keep up with the times and modify their methods, or like you say, come up with some kind of cut of the movie for DVD release which excludes anything that isn't suitable for children!. Especially if the main body of the film would be fine!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

How old is your boy!? I take my kids to see PG-13 movies - - you need to explain to them that it's pretend, so explosions, etc!.!.!.!., don't phase them!. Hulk was kind of dark and not that entertaining, Iron Man was good I thought, and there are like two seconds when he jumps in a bed with someone - literally, two seconds!. Hulk they had some dialogue about how he couldn't do it but it wasn't graphic language, she didn't ask him if it got big and green or anything!.

yeaahh but there must be some reason that the movies are 12 or 15!.!.!.!.

hancock got a 12 but but people thought it should have been 15 because of the amount of f-word uses or something!.!.!. but it was awesome!.!.!.!.!.!.if your son cant get into the movie!.!.!. go see it with him!.!.!. then he'll get in!.!.!. though i would never go to the cinema with my parents!.!.!.

anyways it would cost loads to release a pg version of a movie!.!.!.!. :)Www@Enter-QA@Com

I think they should consider doing this, if only at the DVD stage!.

I watched Pan's Labyrinth, thinking I might let my child watch it!. NO WAY! The story line was a child's fairytale, but the violence would sicken an adult!. She would have loved the core story, but I can't let her watch it!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

wow that's a really good point! All they'd have to do is re-edit it, at no cost at all!!

nover thought of it, but yeah that would be great for the little ones!. obviously there are some movies (saw etc) that just cant be tamed, but many can!.

BUT if it hasn't happened, there must be some money scheming reason for it!.!. it's not like it hasn't occired to anyone in the multi-billion dollar industryWww@Enter-QA@Com

Because it would ruin the movie simply in my prospective!. How old is your child!? Cause if they are not that far from 13 then I would go ahead and let them atch!. The Incredible Hulk and Iron Man!. I wouldn't be so sure about the Dark Knight though despite the fact we did take a 8, 9, and 10, year old with us!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Because it would suck!.!.!. Imagine a PG version of The Godfather!!!!
By the way, The Incredibles (PG) > TDK and Iron Man (both PG-13)Www@Enter-QA@Com

financial reasons I would guess!.!.!.that and the fact that censorship is a terrible thing!.!.!.and any more of it would be a crimeWww@Enter-QA@Com

Havent they replaced 12 with 12A now!?Www@Enter-QA@Com
