I own the Uncut version and trust me your not missing out on much!. At least Cannibal Holocaust went for both the animal and human death was even considered a "snuff film" as they believed the director really killed his actors!. He nearly went to jail over that and had to bring in the actors to prove they were alive and also the impalement scene and how that was done!. Cannibal Ferox is a tamer version of that film thou the breast hang and brain chop were impressive!. And yes they butchered the animals for real but that's no worse then what you see on a wildlife special!. You really want disturbing!? watch Garden of love which had children butchered in it!. I'm a horror and gore fan and that freaked ME out and I thought I seen it all and I don't disturb easy!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

DK S said it - the movie was originally called Cannibal Holocaust!. This was a documentary originally, and the majority of what you saw in the movie was real - especially the animal deaths!. Hence why it was banned!. Do some research on the movie, you'll be suprised!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

see
Cannibal Holocaust
All the animal mutilation are Real
All the gore In The movie Is real except for Rape Scenes(its my guess!. They Might have been Real!!!)

As Far as Cannibal Ferox is concerned
You Might have watched Censored Version Not Unrated Ones!.!.!.!.
Some scenes ARE gruesome and Horrifying
Next U See a Cannibal Movie , Make sure Its Unrated!.!.!.!

!.!.!.ah, I see that, much like many people, you succumbed to the sensationalist advertising of this film; first of all, be rest assured that unlike it's predecessor, "Cannibal Holocaust", there was no actual animal violence in "Cannibal Ferox", and the 'human' violence, as blood and graphic as it was, was mere make-up and hokey gore effects!.!.!.!.

!.!.!.in the wake of the contraversial "Cannibal Holocaust", where genuine reports of animal violence, gruesome & disturbing imagery and eventual film print confiscation, the film, "Cannibal Ferox" (aka "Make Them Die Slowly"), was indeed monikered with the 'banned in 31 countries' label, but after the film proved to be much more dark-humored and comic-book-like, despite the over-the-top violence and hokey special effects, as compared with "Cannibal Holocaust", the film became progressively less banned, but the film still retained it's 'banned in 31 days' sensationalist advertising, in order to continue drawing in it's unsuspecting audience!.!.!.!.

!.!.!.I remember the film being released very much uncut (!.!.!.under it's "Make Them Die Slowly" title), way back when, at one of the sleazy downtown L!.A!. grindhouses, and amusingly enough, it also appeared uncut (!.!.!.again, under the "!.!.!.Die Slowly" title) on VHS video, under the 'Elvira, Mistress of the Dark' produced 'Thriller Video' label!. Although Elvira (aka Cassandra Peterson) thought that the film went a bit too far, as far as the gore, she actually felt very much like you do, as far as the hokeyness of the film, and as a result, she refused to provide her patented 'film heckling' spots, and even refused to be associated, in any way, shape or form, as far as the video released (!.!.!.although the tape still bore the 'Thriller Video' label, all suggestions of the character of 'Elvira' was excised and removed)!.!.!.

!.!.!.!.eventually, the film was picked up for digital enhancement, on initially the laser disc format, and then DVD, by a company called 'Grindhouse Releasing'; two of the driving forces behind 'Grindhouse Releasing' company, and the digital rendition of "Cannibal Ferox", was exploitaiton filmmaker William Lustig, and Sage Stallone (!.!.!.yes, Sylvester Stallone's son), who to this day, still port their efforts in re-discovering and digitally re-constructing some of the most obscure and violent exploitation & horror films!.!.!.!.

!.!.!.in the end, I agree with your capsule analysis of the film; it is indeed hokey, comic-book-like, and I believe you coined the term 'lame'!. But then, I suspect that the filmmaker had originally intended the film to look that way, if anything, to temper the harshness and visually disturbing assumption of the contraversial subject matter (!.!.!.as originally ushered in, with "Cannibal Holocaust"; fortunately, "Cannibal Ferox" wasn't spurned and persecuted, with proven allegations of actual animal violence, as was in the case of "!.!.!.Holocaust")!. In my book, it's one of those movies that's 'so bad, it's good'!.!.!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
