Nicholson and Ledger played their parts equally well in my opinion!. A large percentage of people say Ledger, having not seen Batman!. They are two very different films, two very different Jokers and two very different actors!. But they both did it extremely well, yes, Heath Ledger did well!. It was dark, he tried to keep a mysterious, slightly insane aura!. But you also get a very profound aura from Nicholson!. He gives another insane, but more upper class villain which worked well for the more comicy type to film, rather than one that strives to be a crime drama!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
Firstly The Joker is a character that can have many different takes on it but none have been as polished and as true to the first design of him as Heath Ledger!. Not for his death i am saying this but he brought the mad, deranged, hellbent and crazy Joker to the screen majestically despite him not being scary!. Jack Nicholson wasn't brilliant as he failed to make the audience gasp in horror like Heath did!. He pulled off the acts of The Joker with the emotion The Joker would have!. He worked tirelessly on the part and his death may be related!. He gave everything to the part and it has resulted in a polished performance that is menacing and dark!. His facials are excellent and his laugh, although underused is very frightening!.The Joker is meant to be a man who thinks killing people is fun, like a 'Joke' and Ledger did that with some what freaky realism!. He played the part really well and it was an Oscar winning performance which i have no doubt he will win later this year!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
In my opinion Jack Nicholson is the best joker!.
This is because he potrays the image and mystery of an evil clown in his own personal image nevermind on film!. He is able to 'convert' this into the character with great ease!. His performance playing the pyschopathic maniac, the joker, is his best and perhaps one of the best performances in film history!.
When you say Jack Nicholson you think 'the joker and the shining', when you say Heath Ledger you think 'a great up and coming actor who died after filming the Batman film'!.

Heath Ledger!.!.!.!.!.his acting was truly terrifying!.!.!.Jack Nicholson made an incredible Joker, but Nicholson doesn't light a match to Ledger's performance!. Ledger had just the perfect balance of humor and sadism!. This particular Joker ran chills up the audience's spines as he explained the different reasons for his permanent smile!. Ledger's performance surpassed that of any ordinary actor who has a typical character whom the actor will play repeatedly (think Jim Carrey, Jack Nicholson, Tom Cruise, Will Smith), but Heath Ledger disappeared behind his role!. Watching Dark Knight, Heath Ledger was invisible!. When you watch Dark Knight, you are not watching Heath Ledger playing the Joker, you're watching The Joker!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
Heath ledger, i think because he did so good, i couldnt even tell it was him!. he disguised his voice so well, i mean he has a thick, deep aussie voice, and he changed that into a softer, crazier, american one, that got to be tough! also, he had the ability to frighten me, and make me laugh at his craziness! he gave me the impression of exactly what the joker is, and more, because he made it his own!. Heath Ledger DEFINETLY!!!!I haven't seen the movie yet but I saw the commercials and even from seeing the commercials I can see hes like the best joker from everyone!!!

Definately Heath, You didn't see Heath Ledger in that movie, you saw the Joker, to me now Heath IS the joker!. His performance perfectly captured the insanity of the charecter, and made begin to understand what he found funny in gruesome situations toward the end!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
