I watched the movie The Da Vinci Code last night and I don't understand/get it!.
Can someone please tell me what the code was and what was happening as it was so confusing!.

the code was Apple and they were on the search for the Holy Grail!.
Or Dan Brown's interpretation of the Holy Grail, meaning the living descendant of Jesus!. The old guy wanted to let the secret out that the Holy Grail was Mary Madgeline and Langdon got roped in b/c he was good at codes to find the grail but to protect it!. also Sophie is supposed to be the descendant of Jesus!.

The answer you want is pretty long and complicated, but here goes: It basically involves a cover-up by the Catholic Church (which includes the Opus Dei) trying to stop another group (Priory of Sion) from revealing the truth about Jesus Christ!. The Priory of Sion has knowledge that Christ was a mortal man (not a God) who was married to Mary Magdelene and together had a child, Sarah!. Therefore, if Christ had a child and she had children and so on!.!.!.there would be modern day desendants of Christ!.
Having that family tree would prove Christ to have been a man and not a God and that would destroy the basis of the Catholic Church!.
